United States: Marijuana legalization approved in New Jersey and Arizona, Uber wins in California

The legalization of marijuana in the USA

In New Jersey and Arizona, voters made marijuana legal this Tuesday. This legalization allows the use of this drug for recreational purposes. The same decision should also be adopted in South Dakota. A vote should promote the use of this narcotic not only for recreational purposes, but also as a medical solution.

Mississippi should also take a vote to legalize marijuana use. This vote will likely approve its use for therapeutic purposes. Also, since 1996, an authorization for the therapeutic use of this drug has been adopted in 33 other states. This is also the case in the District of Columbia.

In addition, 11 other states have authorized recreational use of marijuana. In addition, 16 states have approved the use of this narcotic for medical purposes. They have even removed any criminal law penalties for marijuana possession. Indeed, this information is revealed by the National Organization for Marijuana Law Reform.

Oregon Psilocybin License for Use

Psilocybin is one of the substances on which the Americans have voted to legalize. It is found in some hallucinogenic mushrooms. Indeed, the voters of Oregon have authorized its use as a therapeutic treatment for certain pathologies in adults.

This approval is supported by studies showing the benefits of psilocybin in the treatment of anxiety disorders and other mental health conditions. The therapeutic benefits of this substance have therefore been put forward by proponents of this approval to allow its legalization.

Therefore, the implementation of this proposal will be handled by a regulatory structure according to a schedule to be established at a later date.

Uber contributes to the vote for a law on companies

In California, voters voted to approve a proposal concerning a category of employees working in companies. These are drivers and delivery personnel. This proposal will allow companies not to requalify them as employees. Instead, they will be recognised as self-employed workers.

Thus, several companies have agreed to the implementation of this measure. Among them are the Lyft group and the American technology company Uber Technologies. It should be noted that the two companies have invested more than $190 million in the campaign.

Florida: a proposal to review the minimum wage

In Florida, voters were invited to vote on a proposal to review a worker's minimum wage. They therefore gave their approval for the adoption of this proposal. Indeed, it will promote a gradual increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage will rise from $8.56 per hour to $15 per hour, starting September 30, 2026.

It should be noted that the implementation of this measure will involve a change in the constitution of the State.
