Analysis of the Coty share price

The Coty share first appeared on the NYSE stock market in 2013. The very first trend observed on the Coty share is a bearish trend that will bring the stock to the $13.25 level in February 2014, the stock having been considered slightly overpriced at the time of its introduction. But quickly and in view of the first results obtained, many investors are interested in this stock and buying strategies are multiplying. As a result, a first basic upward trend towards $18.35 was quickly observed in August of the same year. Immediately after this rise, an attempt at a bearish correction caused the stock to lose a few points and it reached the $16.04 level in October.

But this is only the starting point for a new rise that is much faster and more volatile than the previous one. The upward movement will thus lead the Coty share towards a first upward peak at $32.45 in June 2015. To date, this is the historical record recorded by this stock. Of course, this spectacular rise will have the effect of provoking a wave of profit-taking with a step-by-step retracement that will take the stock to the $21.80 level in January 2016.

The year 2016 begins with a new important bullish phase with a gain of points towards the $30.58 level in April. But the psychological resistance of the $30 is tougher than the previous trend and is holding up well. This causes a new selling trend towards $25.22 in May. A bullish correction will allow the stock to reach $28.99 in August 2016 before falling again.

Since November 2016, the Coty stock has been trading below $20 with an attempt to cross this threshold in July 2017. At the beginning of 2018, however, the share price is still above this psychological threshold but without any real clear trend direction. We will therefore have to be patient to find out how this stock is likely to evolve in the longer term and to advise on whether this level is broken or maintained.
